DIY. who me?

i haven’t really delved into the whole DIY thing, i mean when i first saw those letters together about a year ago i literally googled “what does DIY stand for?”

i then was like “oh yeah, duh”

and proceeded to do nothing DIY.

which of course means, do it yourself.

an acronym that bosses you around, how lovely.

so i picked these few DIY projects from CountryLiving.com because i think they are a great jumping off point. technically i’ve already jumped but i landed awkwardly & twisted my ankle & burnt stuff.

i’ve always done crafts with nugget but those don’t count either. although it is so fantastic that i can make the silliest, very- not -good craft with him & he’ll just love it. it always inspires me to make more junk for him to cherish.

i really love the idea of having a pretty dry erase “board” like the one above.

and i also love the idea of writing positive & cute messages on it.

i finally get to leave the house today, for a little while.

but it’s so cold that i’m probably gonna turn into the tin man (pre-oil can) as soon as i step outside.

the fabric i chose. when i took it out of the package i realized i'd have to iron it which was a huge bummer so after a 42 second debate, i decided not to.

i know what you're thinking. why did you let nugget make the triangle? well, i didn't. i made this gorgeous shape without the help of a ruler because that would be the smart thing to do and appearantly i am quite a rebellious crafter.

i actually cut the triangle into a better shape than what i outlined.

pinning it down was thought of after i ruined a good portion of this white fabric and muttered "crafts are annoying" in a very uncheerful manner.

all my horrible triangles ready to go! my scissors cut horribly, it took forever and they made the fabric all jagged. after this i just hot glued them all to the ribbon, making sure i left enough ribbon on each end to hang it.

it's not until i took this picture that i realized what i look like when i do my goofy "oooh" face. No comment.

things i did wrong while making this project:

1) came in with an over confident attitude

2) ignored my hungry belly

3) did not research the right way to make it (hence, the horrible scissors)

4) faced the sharp side of the pins in the SAME direction of my cutting

5) had the patience of a flea

things i did right while making this project:

1) believed i would finish it no matter what

2) didn’t get wrapped up in the perfection of it

3) laughed at my clueless-ness

4)promised to get help next time

5) didn’t swear when i stuck myself with the pins, knocked over my craft tool box or burnt my finger on the hot glue gun

6) celebrated my lousy job, though very all alone, in sheer glee.

next time you think you can’t do something, remember this post and know that if you try you can at least sorta do it.
