me & my fabric. what can i say, this was a proud day!

hello, and welcome to my sewing class! (i know, so fake)

i took sewing when i was in the fourth grade. i made a quilt. thee end.

i took sewing when i went to college when i was 21. i made a dress. thee end.

i took sewing just this past may, and let the chapters go on! cuz guess what? i am hooked and i am not giving up this time. ok, don’t judge by the photos above. i was just wanting to document my first project and then luke wanted to play photographer so i started acting like a nerd, which i find quite enthralling. but the very next day, i sewed my first skirt. and now, i really do see sewing differently and want to continue SEW badly. hahahahaha! eh hem, sorry. but truly, i am very excited and can’t wait to sew my next skirt & then soon, my first dress. this is the beginning of one of my biggest dreams, to have my own clothing line.

it’s on! & yay!

ps i will post the skirt soon. it’s actually in the dryer right now. fingers crossed i don’t find a wadded ball of fabric and thread upon removal. i would wail.

pps i got my hello kitty sewing machine at overstock.com, the reviews all over were outstanding and yes, i do love the utter cuteness of it. i got my fabric from joann fabrics which is also where i took my sewing class for only 17.50, what a deal!

life in the living room.

i am so attracted to lively living rooms.

filled with character & color.

there must be fresh flowers (or fake ones when my pocket book is dry)

i love something about each of the living rooms above, not everything… but i could take away some inspiration from each for sure.

my favorite thing in the first picture is the dashes of bright colors, in the second picture it’s the light pink sofas – i would only have one and then make the other sofa a print, instead of the same solid pink & i also love the bookcases! what i would give for built in bookcases! and in the third picture i adore the tufted couch, although i’d change the color to a sea green. i’ve daydreamed about finding a tufted item at a thrift store or garage sale. i imagine when i do i’ll say “this is like a day dream come true!” & the lady behind the counter will pretend she didn’t hear me & then i’ll pretend i didn’t say it.

the top two photos are from countryliving.com . if you love that type of style, you should take a looky. they have great ideas, seemingly endless! i’ve subscribed to their magazine for a while now & i have yet to not love an issue.

if you’ve followed my blog for a while, you may have seen a post or two about my poetry.

i have been writing since i was 14.

i love writing. especially poetry. i started writing short stories in 2008 & was instantly hooked. so i’ve written about 6 short stories too.

i am also in the midst of two secret books, yes, i said secret. i’ve not told a soul. and though they sound quite serious, they are actually lighthearted and cheeky. i really have no idea when they will be completed since i put them last. hopefully before the year is up. my hope is to make at least 7 people laugh. or chuckle. or i’d probably settle for a clearing of the throat to release a semi-amused sigh.

anyway, i have been working on two photography/poetry books and i am just about finished with the smaller one.

so i am very excited. it is called Heart Drumming, not to be said as an action but rather a feeling.

this poetry is not funny. it is dramatic. it is stricken by love.

it is what one may not see when they talk to me. since i don’t think i look like or talk like the poet stereotype. i don’t think the stereotype is always right, of course, nothing is always right. but… and i mean no offense in saying this. but many poets well, they tend to be sad. or else bitter. or else call out to birds in a secret language & you think they’re joking so you laugh & then they’re like “what’s so funny?” & your face is all aflame & you try to cover it up and in the end you are going on about those ridiculously large maxi pads with wings & she’s got tears in her eyes. the bad ones.

i really love the idea of having a pretty dry erase “board” like the one above.

and i also love the idea of writing positive & cute messages on it.

i finally get to leave the house today, for a little while.

but it’s so cold that i’m probably gonna turn into the tin man (pre-oil can) as soon as i step outside.

i loved Domino Magazine.

and then, poof! it went away.

i didn’t even get to say goodbye.

anyway, Lonny Mag is very reminiscent of Domino, in my opinion

i only wish i could subscribe to it for like 12 dollars like i did Domino

i get the whole save the earth thing, but no one is going to convince me that reading my books and magazines on a screen is better

i want to hold and feel what i am reading, i want to view it “live” in front of me & not get cross eyed headaches and see double of my child every time i’m done.

but, that being said, i love Lonny so much that for now, i will page through their online mag with minimal complaints, since it’s pretty fabulous. i know they offer printed copies but the price tag is a bit, um, well…

… but i’m still Christmas shopping! very out of character for me, but must admit, it’s not quite as horrible as i always thought it’d be. the parking lots can be misleading (it’s not that bad inside) and turns out i’m finding it half thrilling that i’m “running out of time!!!!!!”

i love this song by ingrid michaelson. it makes me want to put on a summer dress and do a large array of dance moves that i’ve invented over the years.

it’s just fun.

i like it. i like it a lot.

my little couwboy. he looked adorable!

i was a cowgirl. though i got "scarecrow? and swiss miss" i thought scarecrow was a total insult! whatever!

my pondering cowboy. i reckon he's a deep thinker.

there's my big cowgirl belt. i mean come on, what scarecrow wears a belt like that?

nugget with his cousins, except batman, who is a friend.

buzz and woody. even though i didn't make nugget woody really. when he was with buzz, he was woody.

i wanted a picture of me and nugget trick or treating together. so i handed the camera to my husband and this is what i got. no comment.

we had lots of fun on halloween. (we trick or treated on saturday, town’s orders!)

lots of cuteness!

i went with family and friends and actually didn’t eat one piece of candy that day since i had a sore throat and didn’t want to get sicker.

so instead of eating my beloved reeses cups, i had two huge glasses of my vitamin C drink and an apple -total halloween nerd!

but the next morning my throat felt better so whose laughing now!

no one actually laughed at me. i just like asking that.

i am working on the voyage project very diligently and am hoping to unveil it by early next week.

oooh, unveil…. what a word! makes the impending sound so sensational.

i would not say the voyage project is an earth shattering idea, but instead, a better organized (already known) concept with an artsy twist

and if implemented with your whole heart.

it could just change your life.
