just paged through the new Ruche lookbook today & wow! so very pretty!

makes me want to buy a few new dresses.

& then go to a field.

& just stare at everything very pensively.

& of course i would love it if a little birdie landed upon my finger.

but i’d probably get a bit overwhelmed amidst that many butterflies. just because i get scared of groups of things that can fly. or else swarm me. & possibly make some sort of giant web to smash me in.

and i know butterflies don’t make webs, but in nature, i can be slightly irrational and exhaustively imaginative.

yesterday was lovely. about 62 degrees! me and nugget went outside and he walked around with his bubble maker till it ran dry. i love bubbles. especially in sunshine, very therapeutic. and the great thing about the bubble maker that i bought him is that he doesn’t have to try to blow out a bubble, which is sorta hard at his age and he always ends up eating it. he just keeps pressing the handle up and down and voila! tons of bubbles! he has a blast doing all the work and i just lie there like a queen watching his efforts float around me. it’s quite enchanting, really.

i am very much pmsing so i really needed the sun and fresh air. i feel so much better when i have wide open spaces to be grouchy in.

i’ve got so many Christmas gift ideas, it’s madness! just paging through all my latest magazines, going to my favorite etsy shops, and browsing other blogs… i tell ya, there is no shortage of lovely things around here.

all the items above are $30 or less! isn’t that just smashing?

i am highly considering getting the dress for Christmas, i think it’s perfect with the long sleeves and contrasted romantic skirt, love it.

this wishlist is entirely different from my other ones.

today, my wishlist is something that i wish for you if you’re a mom.

i’ve always been a writer, diary keeper, etc. so for me, writing down nugget’s life has come very natural.

but if you’re like most moms’ that i know, your baby book stopped before your little one could walk.

that’s why i love this diary so much. it’s a five year diary, it has 6 small lines for each day. just to write down something cute they did or said or a milestone. or even just what you did that day.

i’ve only had mine since may of this year and i already love how i can just open it up and view each little memory so neatly. i’ll definitely get one asap for my next baby too. it’s crazy to think that by the time i’m done with it nugget will be just about 8! ahhhh!

even if you have a baby book that you’re devoted to, this is a great addition. i write down more memories than i normally would and plus it’s just so darn cute!

Confession: when i was younger i was a shop-a-holic. and i was the naughty sort. the sort that thought it would all be paid off sooner or later, and if not – oh well… that’s what marriage is for! ( i thought i was going to marry a rich man who’d think my being an impulsive shopper was adorable and give me big hugs and chuckling banter every time i stood in the doorway with fistfuls of heavy bags and an oopsy grin as i teetered to one side)

but life handed me reality, which is that most men get sick of these lines sooner or later:

- but it was on sale

- there was only one left in my size

- i had a dream about this dress!

- no, they’re not really everyday shoes but one day when we go to…

- all the other girls spent way more than me, you’re lucky!

it started in my teens, right out of high school i got a ridiculously good paying job as a dental tech. i had no experience but was trained on the job, i was barely eighteen, i know! by the time i decided to go to college (i was 20) and that’s when i really spun out of control.

ever hear of the shopaholic books? well, that was basically me.

i just bought and bought and bought.

new job? new wardrobe!

lost 2 pounds? new wardrobe!

saw your ex with his girlfriend and realize they look good together? bawl your eyes out and then, new wardrobe!

but thankfully i’ve been set straight for a while now.

it was a very long road, but i’m glad i learned why i did it.

- i was filling a void.

yeah right.

i just liked stuff too much.

really, there was no excuse for me.

i mean maybe if i lied on a couch and let someone analyze my life they could figure out what went wrong.

but i tend to think bad habits come from mostly the same place – boredom, focusing on the wrong things and of course, the temporary thrill of it all.

can i just say that this outfit makes me want to welcome fall with open arms.
just for a few weeks though.

then i would like summer to promptly return.

fall was my favorite season for a really long time. until it turned into a three week stint that charms me to pieces and then BAM freezes me while i’m still in the midst of being dazzled by the colored leaves.

i had to make the difficult decision of letting fall, uh… fall to second place because it started frustrating me. and it began to resemble winter too much.

and me & winter? well, let’s just say if i didn’t have my faith and my insatiable addiction to laughing at my own jokes… i’d be a female scrooge. i doubt i’d yell at small children and yet i can envision myself getting very angry at an elaborate snowman.

and to think that we are in the middle of august.

i know that they always said “time goes by faster when you’re older”

but come on. i’m not that old. and yet these summers’ have been just flying by. like in the movies when they want to show you that many days are passing so they show one of those tear off calendars, all the sheets flying off one by one – very quickly.

and ok, maybe i am that old.

but still. it’s maddening!

i haven’t blogged since thursday? wow. time flies when you’re lost inside your own little world.

i wish i was able to say something fantastic about my absence like “sorry lovelies! i won Publishers Clearing House on friday and was immediately whisked away underneath that giant check!”

or even if i could announce that i did something really super like cleaned my house from top to bottom or went on some sort of meditation excursion where i could not have a phone, computer or television.

but no. i’ve just been losing my marbles a bit.

you know, good old fashioned, blahs and coo-coos.

in a nut shell, i haven’t been the laughing girl above there on my header. and there’s a lot less “easy does it” moments for me.

i’ve been sick, i’ve been panicking, and i’ve been thinking about too much for too long.

it’s no good to pretend that i never have these times in my life. these overwhelming days that make me feel so different that i look at pictures from a few months ago and marvel at how care free i was “back then”

but, my faith will pull me through. God does not give me a spirit of fear, and He also helps those who help themselves. so, i’m not only praying, i’m also doing.

the thing about experiencing pain, is once you’re through it, life is (or should be) more appreciated, sweeter. and you then have a metaphoric badge on your heart that says “i understand” to anyone you meet who is going through tough times.

this too shall pass.

one of the easiest ways to add a girly flair, is a sweet hair accessory.

the key to not looking like an overgrown ten year old of course, is to not over do it.

and if you’re over 21 and it’s extra youthful, like the heart barrettes and satin bows above, i definitely suggest wearing one on the back of your hair style instead of in the front. (on top of a pony tail instead of swooping your bangs atop your head)

i’m still a bit cross eyed from the thunderstorm last night that jarred me out of my sleep so badly that i yelped. and then just lied there wide awake as it boomed so enormously that i envisioned my house shifting and falling apart. i could not close my eyes until it stopped. and i am not usually that way with storms, but this storm was out of control. the worst i’ve ever heard.

hopefully i’ll get over it by noon.
